“Don’t rush to judgment,” my neighbor said,
“There’s a lot we don’t know.”

“But there’s enough we do know,” I replied.
“We’ve witnessed the videoed facts:
A handcuffed man is dead.
A policeman paid to protect
knelt on George Floyd’s neck
for 8 minutes 46 seconds.”

The neck the cop knelt on was historically black.
The kneeling policeman was historically white.

“One bad apple,” my neighbor said.
“One bad apple tree,” I responded.
“Don’t forget the other three.”

History is not always found in books.
Sometimes it is found in video clips
of white knees on black necks.
It is found in a murdered man talking
through thousands of people walking.
