If I say ‘if’,
a condition is placed.
There will be consequences.

If these demands are not met,
if it doesn’t rain,
if you loved me,
if you do that one more time,
if we lived in the best of all worlds,
if two cars drove straight
toward each other,
one at 20 one at 40 mph,
if they collide,
if anyone is hurt,
or if not,
as if that would make a difference.
If you think it would, why?

If you are still reading this poem,
if you do not stop even though
you are wondering if there is something
better you can do with your time,
if this conditioned iffy poem is killing you,
then stop.  Save your life.

If you are merely bored,
keep reading.
