“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil,
but by those who watch them without doing anything.”
Albert Einstein
Today, once again,
I had the opportunity to practice
cowardice.
Given all that I have been given,
my Judeo-Christian heritage,
the righteous anger of Amos,
seven of the ten commandments,
my political debt to the Greeks,
my combative debt to the Romans,
what survived from the French Revolution,
pride in the American flag
and the liberty and justice for which it stands,
you’d think I’d run toward civic unrest.
I do not run away from the fray,
I just pretend I do not notice.
My dog is not in the fight.
My horse is not in the race.
It’s not my problem.
Somethings going on?
I’ll look the other way.
