I have not been caught committing crimes of omission
they have gone unnoticed, therefore unreported.
They were transgressions of silence,
my mouth full of words needing to be said.
but swallowed,
not bitten by teeth into articulate sound.

My friends tell me I am gaining weight.
“Eat fewer carbs,” they say,
“Eat less fat.”
What they don’t know is
that a dictionary fills my belly,
also the Bible,
maybe one book,
maybe Jeremiah.
